The Jews were the Christians’ scapegoats for centuries, primarily because a)Jews in Europe were seen as outsiders and foreigners, therefore not trusted, and b) Christians viewed Jews as the murderers of Christ. Since Christians had religious laws against usury, Jews also acted as banks, and people resented owing them money. Jews were usually placed into ghettos, blamed for unfortunate natural events, and were subject to persecution and execution.

I just don’t get why you’re so obsessed with what people do with their personal belongings. I have read Tarot for years and have never “brainwashed” anyone thanks. Most people KNOW you can also use the cards as a game if you want to. There are instructions in a lot of decks by US GAMES as to how to use them as a game also. People DO think for themselves, and if they want to use the cards for divination and they spend the money on the cards, they can do what they want with them.

Yeah, do what you want with the cards but stop bullshitting about other peoples culture. People should know that those cards were made for a game and people still play tarot games today! Tarot is for card games, people!

i really enjoyed this video for i love all history. you seem to be knowledgeable on the history of tarot. the only time i winced was when you threw in the crack about christians using the romany and the jews as scapegoats. which religion, nation, or culture HASN’T had its scapegoat? native american tribes warred at each other for slaves. jews and muslims r always hurting each other. commies killed millions of christians, jews, gypsies. how many people got their first tarot deck for xmas?

If people find comfort in the cards in their own personal way, then what’s it to you? A person can use them however they want to.
TarotSkye on March 27, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Who cares? Use the cards for what you want, and stop pushing what you think on other people. If people find comfort in the cards in their own personal way, then what’s it to you tarot4games?

You are without knowledge of tarot’s history. Tarot was originally made for card games. Tarot is also the name of a popular card game in France. People in europe play real card games with tarot. I have played them on the interenet.

whoever thinks tarot is games and whatnot is without knowledge on it in all seriousness

How are the Jews Christianity’s scapegoats? Christianity was founded by a Jew (Jesus). In fact, the idea of “scapegoat” comes from a Jewish tradition!

What is presented in “The Secret In The Bible” by Tony Bushby is not only PHYSICALLY REPRODUCEABLE and thus UNDENIABLE, but known historical fact. The symbols are not only derived from Egypt, but also from Khepra, or the benben, taro is rota reversed, the ‘t’ later added as a ‘blind’. Rotation or rotate is what the rainbow serpent of light did, casting 22 shadows or glyphs which are the basis of the 22 arcana, veiled later in the cards, and depicted on Egyptian temple walls/halls of initiation.

The problem is that the tarot outside of Europe has been boxed into divination. Tarot card readers do not always tell the whole story about tarot. If the tarot readers and new age publishers informed the public about its gaming use, there would be no issue. The new age has given the American public a skewed view of the cards.
dkinnibu on April 9, 2009 at 8:37 pm
True, Tarot has its origin in gaming, that is a matter of historical record. However, because the card’s origins are involved in a game does not box them into that catagory for all time. Just because someone made an object for a particular purpose does not mean that the object must be only used for its original intent. Please feel free to use the cards as a game, that’s actually very cool. Just please don’t try to dictate that this is their only use.
